Resources for HIV and AIDS have seen a significant regression in recent years.  The refugee crises, security threats, humanitarian emergencies as well as fiscal austerity in many countries have contributed to shifting funding demands. As a result, the global HIV response is facing important challenges in adjusting to the new financial landscape while attempting to maintain its focus on putting an end to the epidemic. More than ever, efforts to prevent the transmission of HIV and provide treatment and care for those living with HIV require innovative and cost-effective solutions.

Linking HIV to sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) is proving to become one of these solutions. HIV and SRHR share root causes and intersect on common fronts spanning biology, epidemiology, behavior, structural dynamics, strategic responses and most significantly, human rights. Ending AIDS and ushering in SRHR for all requires a broad-scoped joint response encompassing laws and policies, health and education systems and integrated service delivery.

In the spirit of further promoting the relationship between HIV and SRHR and its importance in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the region, UNFPA WCARO/HQ and IPPF have closely collaborated with eight selected WCA Country Offices and their national partners, along with WHO, UNAIDS, USAID, and the Interagency Working Group on SRH and HIV Linkages to produce tailored country infographic snapshots on HIV/SRHR linkages.  These infographic snapshots provide an overview of national data for the full scope of the linkages, and are available in English and French in select countries. By highlighting results, areas that need strengthening, and data gaps, these infographics can be used for determining priorities, programme planning and resource mobilization.
