UNFPA organized a capacity-building session targeting 38 nursing students at the Buea Regional Hospital to strengthen their capacities in Family Planning information and services. The initiative is aimed easing access to information and services for Women and girls in a bid to prevent unintended pregnancies.

This stands as part of UNFPA's broader humanitarian response to the sociopolitical crisis in the South West and North West Regions, which has exacerbated the vulnerability of women and girls to gender-based violence (GBV) and reduced their access to sexual and reproductive health information and services .

The session covered a wide range of topics including: the physiology of the reproductive system; different family planning methods and their effectiveness; adolescent sexual and reproductive health challenges as well as GBV case-management.

Hence forth, participants are better equipped to provide accurate family planning counseling to the women and girls in need of information and services in this crisis stricken zone.

By investing in the capacity-building of nursing students, UNFPA is hoping to build healthier and more resilient communities for the North West and South West regions of Cameroon.
