The Position:

Under the overall leadership of the UNFPA country Representative, the coordination of the Deputy Representative and the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Monitoring and Evaluation Analyst will set up and coordinate the system for collecting, processing and making available data related to the implementation of the "Youth and Stabilization for Peace and Security in the Far North of Cameroon" project and in real time.


S/he will maintain a close collaboration with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Specialist of the Country Office.

Job Purpose:

As part of the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to the Government of Cameroon in general and the implementation of the 7th UNFPA - Government of Cameroon cooperation program, UNFPA has just received funding from the European Union for the implementation of the Project entitled "Youth and Stabilization for Peace and Security in the Far North of Cameroon". This joint project, which will be carried out in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), aims to contribute to the stabilization for peace and security in the Far North region through actions to prevent and fight against serious violence among young people most exposed to the consequences of the socio-economic situation and insecurity.


You would be responsible for:

  1. Planning
  • Assist the Project Coordinator in the planning process by ensuring alignment with Project Document indicators and guidance;
  • Quality assurance of work plans in collaboration with the Country Office M & E Specialist.


  1. Monitoring
  • Develop and facilitate an inter-agency monitoring mechanism for project implementation in relation to the UNFPA monitoring system
  • Develop a project monitoring plan and subsequent work plans and follow up on this plan;
  • Develop data collection and reporting tools for the project;
  • Organize the collection and processing of data from implementation by project component
  • Regular tracking of indicators to measure progress towards results;
  • Strengthen the capacities of the actors of the implementation on the planning, the monitoring and the evaluation;
  • Make regular follow-up descents in the field.


  1. Evaluation
  • Develop and propose a short and medium term evaluation scheme in relation to the expected results of the project;
  • Contribute to the development of evaluation tools;
  • Contribute to the final evaluation of the project.


  1. Reporting and documentation
  • Develop and update a database on the project (graphics, Excel etc);
  • Develop the reporting matrix for partners and reporting to the lessor;
  • Assist the project team in developing progress reports;
  • Perform all other tasks related to the ToRs agreed with the Bureau.


  1. Carry out any other duties as may be required by UNFPA leadership. 


Qualifications and Experience



advanced university degree in Project Management, Statistics, Economics or any other related fields;


Knowledge and Experience:

  • Knowledge of project monitoring and evaluation, with some experience in an international organization.
  • Strong knowledge of results-based management;
  • Excellent command of basic software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point etc.) and basic data analysis software (Sphinx, SPSS, etc.).
  • Very good writing skills and an ability to summarize.
  • Be ready to undertake field missions.



Fluency in French is required; knowledge of other official UN languages, preferably English is desirable.
