The Secretary-General will lead a memorial ceremony at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on Wednesday, 23 January at 3:00 p.m. Geneva time. The purpose of this memorial celebration is to pay tribute to the UN colleagues who were killed or injured in the attack on the United Nations offices in Algiers on 11 December 2007. This solemn ceremony will be open to family members of lost and injured colleagues.
The Deputy Secretary-General and Executive Director of UNFPA, Ms. Thoraya A. Obaid, Permanent Missions and UN staff will be present at the ceremony.
